Join the inauguration of Gaspard Combes Colours of Rajasthan, created in collaboration with the local community and master artisans. Drawing on Mandore Garden’scenturies-old cenotaphs, temples, and carved memorials, Combes reimagines lotas and plastic basins, as monumental sculptural forms, reflecting on everyday material culture and its place within Rajasthan’s historic and domestic landscapes.

14:45 PM | ARTIST WALKTHROUGH – facilitated by Jenjum Gadi
Jenjum Gadi’s sculptural work gathers everyday fruits and vegetables into a tender, memory-laden bunch evoking his childhood spent close to nature. Created in collaboration with Rohit Kumar, a first-generation silversmith from Nepal, the installation blends personal nostalgia with the textured landscapes of Jodhpur. Together, they celebrate humble forms as vessels of identity, belonging, and shared stories.

14:30 PM | ARTIST WALKTHROUGH – facilitated by Richa Arya supported by Exhibit 320
Richa Arya who presents a thoughtful installation reflecting on the lives of working women. Developed in close collaboration with Sindhi embroiderers from Jodhpur through the Sang Welfare Society, led by Sangeeta Aidasani, the work honours embroidery as a living archive of memory, material, and care, stitched across generations.

15:30 PM | PANEL DISCUSSION – Rethinking the Living City, Curated & Moderated by Ranjit Hoskote
Drawing on Patrick Geddes’ vision of Indian towns as organic, evolving entities, this panel brings together leading voices across ecology, history, journalism, and conservation to explore the layered life of cities like Jodhpur. How can we reimagine urban spaces through the lens of natural systems, memory, and lived heritage?
The discussion will engage with questions of landscape, water, climate justice, and urban storytelling reflecting on how traditional knowledge, ecological resilience, and cultural continuity can shape more inclusive, sustainable futures.

Step into the world of artisanal fragrance with Saksham Arora, a fifth-generation perfumer whose family has been crafting traditional Indian ittar since 1904, representing one of the oldest perfume-making legacies in the country. Explore the process, engage with rare ingredients, and take home your own handcrafted ittar.

This hands-on session explores knots as both practical tools and cultural connectors. Participants will learn traditional knotting techniques used in charpais, camel harnesses, and rope-making, deeply tied to regional ecologies. Working with natural materials like khajur, khejri, and moonj grass, the activity becomes a tactile exploration of sustainable living, where each knot embodies the wisdom of survival, adaptation, and interdependence.

Experience the deliciousness of Makhaniya Lassi, Pyaaz Kachori, Mirchi Vada, Ghee Kachori, and more, alongside the living traditions of lac bangle making, torans, ittar, and silverwork. From spice-laden kitchens to the intricate skills of local artisans, this sensory journey celebrates the craft and food heritage that continues to shape Jodhpur’s cultural identity.

This immersive, participatory programme crafts a narrative journey tracing the transformation of the Marwar region, from its volcanic origins and the age of dinosaurs to its contemporary ecological and cultural landscape.
Rao Jodha Park becomes a living archive where geology, ecology, folklore, and memory converge through clue-based trails, sensory experiences, and learner-led storytelling.

This workshop is inspired by the rich tradition of textile craftsmanship in Jodhpur, where many women in domestic settings skillfully repurpose old clothes into beautiful, functional items like jholas and more. In this workshop, participants will learn how to transform recycled fabrics into new creations, with a special focus on embroidery techniques.
This hands-on session will celebrate the creativity and resourcefulness of local women, promoting sustainable fashion practices. By the end of the workshop, participants will not only gain new skills but also a deeper appreciation for the art of textile reuse.

Tucked within the winding lanes of Jodhpur’s Blue City, the House of Premchand, a fourth-generation Marwari haveli, has been thoughtfully repurposed by the Public Arts Trust of India (PATI) as a home for its Artists-in-Residence. Once cooled by cow dung plaster and built with traditional ingenuity, the space now hosts contemporary artistic practices that respond to place, memory, and material.

From the shifting sands of Rajasthan to the coastal landscapes of Somalia, this panel brings together the Dhaqan Collective and camel pastoralism expert Dr. Ilse Köhler-Rollefson to explore the camel as both a keystone species and a vessel of living heritage.

Discover the delicate art of drypoint printmaking in this hands-on workshop led by artist Saruha Kilaru. Drypoint is an intaglio technique where lines are etched directly onto acrylic plates using a pointed tool to raise a burr, which holds ink and creates rich, velvety impressions when printed.

Awdhesh Tamrakar presents a toran-inspired installation at the gateway of Khaas Bagh, created with artisans Than Chand Mehra.
The work reimagines the toran, a traditional threshold adornment, as a layered symbol of welcome, protection, and cultural memory, blending heritage craft with contemporary form.

Each inspired by Jodhpur’s historic water architecture, particularly Mayla Bagh Jhalra, join artists Ayesha Singh, Chila Kumari Singh Burman, Richa Arya and Saruha Kilaru alongside Kamna Anand (Senior Curator, RMZ Foundation) as they explore erased histories and the often overlooked contributions of women to Jodhpur’s architectural legacy.
The panel will be chaired by Mimansha Charan (Jodhpur based Architectural Historian) who has supported many artists’ research for their Jodhpur Arts Week commissions.

The serene embrace of Mandore Gardens holds history in the air, and every stone tells a story. Frames of Mandore invites participants to see the gardens anew, noticing the textures of carved cenotaphs, the dance of light through trees, and the silent tales hidden in every corner.
As the morning breeze and fresh air breathe life into every camera lens, each frame becomes a meditation on memory, nature, and craft. By the end of Art Week, these captured moments will form a collective tapestry, revealing Mandore’s timeless beauty through countless eyes and perspectives.

Join pioneering British-Indian artist Chila Kumari Singh Burman in conversation with Sakhshi Mahajan and Emma Sumner as they discuss her innovative approaches, bold oeuvre and the ideas that drive her practice. Known for her vibrant neons and fearless reimagining of popular culture, Burman brings together themes of feminism, identity and diaspora in groundbreaking ways. This intimate fireside chat will delve into her creative journey, her use of art as a form of resistance and her ongoing impact on contemporary art.
Signed copies of Burman’s Tate monograph, spanning forty years of her pioneering work, will be available for purchase at the event.

Curious about telling real stories through film? Join this hands-on workshop led by filmmaker Sachin in collaboration with Docustan and the Rajasthan Film Collective. Hold the camera and you become the subject, whatever we film is a reflection of our understanding of the world. We can be curious to know the world around us by looking at this viewfinder, still this image creation is never purely observational or objective.
The workshop will be facilitated through a series of exercises, film screenings and discussions. It is open to researchers, students, artists and academics from all fields and levels of filmmaking experience, from beginner to advanced.

What happens when drawing slips its page and takes flight? In this session, we’ll turn kites into drifting drawings that are playful, imperfect, and full of wind-borne imagination. Together we’ll sketch, scribble, and design kites that carry our lines into the Jodhpur sky. Come curious, leave a little more up in the air.
TDC is a joyful chaotic space where bad drawings are celebrated! In this playful, low-pressure session, artist Harshita Sharma invites you to shed expectations and embrace the messy, spontaneous side of creativity. No drawing skills needed, just curiosity to follow where the senses lead. Perfect for artists and amateurs alike, the Terrible Drawing Club is about reconnecting with art as a tool for joy, not judgement.

This workshop is designed to engage participants in imaginative ecological inquiry of the whimsical world of insects. They will engage in a hands-on exploration of insect life, both real and imagined, drawing from native insect species around Jodhpur, folklore, and their own interpretations of form, function, and habitat.
By inventing their own insect species, with sounds, roles, habitats, and abilities, participants will tap into the power of ecological imagination, learning to notice and reimagine the often overlooked micro- worlds that make our ecosystems resilient.

Step into the world of Durrie weaving, one of Rajasthan’s oldest and most enduring textile traditions, in this hands-on workshop led by master artisan Chenaram Mundel. Participants will learn about the process of making these handwoven cotton floor rugs, from preparing the loom and selecting patterns to understanding the traditional motifs and colour palettes that define the craft.
Guided by Cheenaram’s expertise, this intimate session offers an opportunity to try weaving techniques yourself, while gaining insight into the artistry and heritage of the Marwar region’s weaving communities. Open to all skill levels, this workshop is a celebration of craftsmanship, tradition, and slow, handmade processes.

Step into a hands-on, interactive workshop where participants will create papier-mâché sculptures inspired by artist Gaspard Combes’ installation at Mandore, which reimagines Rajasthan’s stone-carving traditions through playful, illusionistic forms. Guided by the PATI team, you’ll explore techniques to mimic stone textures, blending traditional inspiration with imaginative, contemporary design.
This participatory studio invites visitors to contribute to an evolving collaborative artwork, culminating in a lively outdoor walk carrying these deceptively “heavy” sculptures. Open to all ages, it offers a chance to experience art-making as both process and performance.

Join Vijayraj Prajapat, celebrated as the Lentil Man of India for his astonishingly intricate paintings on lentil grains, for a hands-on workshop exploring the traditional art of Rajasthani miniature painting, this time on the delicate surface of diyas. Alongside, Prajapat will guide participants through the use of fine squirrel-hair brushes, natural mineral pigments, and the meticulous layered techniques that define this age-old practice.
This session offers a rare opportunity to engage deeply with a craft that balances discipline and imagination.

11:00 AM - 13:00 PM | Listening to the Blue: Navi Purani Hathai of Shared Memory with with PATI X LAND Teaching Fellows
Listening to the Blue: Navi Purani Hathai of Shared Memory as part of the Voices of Blue programming, we invite residents of Jodhpur and our young learners to gather in a traditional hathai space, where conversations flow like water in an old well.In the weeks leading up to the Art Week, we will record stories from homes across the blue city, narratives of rituals, water, memory, and quiet transformations.
From these stories, we will draw three central inquiry points, questions that we will paint across the walls of the city, not for answers, but to create thought trails. These questions will lead us to a public hathai session. The session concludes with a symbolic collective act, each participant tying a thread on a shared tapestry map of the blue city, weaving their memory into the city & future.

15:00 PM – 18:00 PM | How Are Folk Instruments Adapting to Our Times? A Workshop in Sound and Materials with Jaipur Virasat Foundation
This immersive session invites participants to see, touch, hear, and understand the rich world of Rajasthani folk instruments. Through guided demonstrations and stories shared by folk musicians, participants will explore the materiality, craftsmanship, and sonic uniqueness of instruments like the khartal, a rhythmic clapper that is easy to learn and deeply rooted in Rajasthan’s musical traditions.
Participants will also have the opportunity to learn to play the khartal from either a renowned artist or a skilled local musicians.

DAILY ACTIVITIES | 10:00 AM - 18:00 PM | Participatory Installation: The Katran Chair with Orange Tree
Step into a collaborative installation where waste finds new meaning. The Katran Chair blends structure and softness, a metal frame wrapped in handwoven katran, the leftover fabric from sarees. Woven by artisans and visitors alike, the chair becomes a living symbol of reuse, resilience, and the quiet power of hands that create.
Visitors are invited to participate by tying a thread or weaving fabric into the chair’s structure. Over the course of Jodhpur Arts Week, it will transform, thread by thread into a layered reflection of identity, memory, and community. No prior experience is needed; simply stop by, pick a thread, and add your mark.
All materials will be provided, and open to all skill levels.
